The University of Ulster is made up of five main faculties: the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Business and Management, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The University runs its academic activities through its four campuses: Belfast, Coleraine, Jordanstown, and Magee. The Belfast campus is traditionally considered the home of the School of Art and Design, though other disciplines are increasingly being taught there. The campus is situated near the city centre and is close to plenty of shops, bars, cafes, and clubs. The Coleraine campus was developed as a university campus in the late 1960s. It is the administrative headquarters for the University and located a short distance to the north of the town.
The Jordanstown campus is located a few miles north of Belfast on the shore of Belfast Lough. The Jordanstown campus is home to the Sports Institute for Northern Ireland and has excellent facilities for recreational and more serious sporting activities. Modern fitness facilities include squash courts, sports halls, and a large fitness suite. The Magee campus is a short walk along the River Foyle from Derry’s city walls. The campus houses the new Learning Resource Centre, Centre for the Creative and Performing Arts, Students’ Union facilities, a 110-seat lecture theatre, staff offices, and a multi-purpose sports hall.
