University of Sunderland has a vibrant history and was established in 1901 as the Sunderland Technical College. It offers foundation programs, regular undergraduate and post graduate programs that can lead to degrees, certificates and diplomas, as well as part-time and professional courses. It also offers highly flexible distance mode of education.
The University of Sunderland comprises of 5 academic departments of; Arts, Design, Media and Culture, School of Business, Law and Psychology, Computing and Technology, Education and Lifelong Learning and, Health, Natural and Social Sciences. The numerous programs in the various fields of study have been carefully planned to ensure that the students are kept up-to-date with the latest trends in the field. The institution also has a Graduate Research School that actively supports research projects in diverse fields of study.
The University of Sunderland extends friendly support services to its students such as career services, disability services, financial assistance, chaplaincy services, residential services, libraries, childcare facilities for children up to 12 years of age. It also extends support to international students. It has three libraries, three learning centres as well as an exceptional electronic library.
