Founded in 1413, the University of St. Andrews is the oldest university in Scotland. Although St. Andrews is not a campus University, it has grown and developed with the town and is now comfortably integrated.
The University offers a wide range of full-time and part-time course programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Apart from these courses, the university also offers day and evening short courses and lectures under Open session. Students can also go for its part-time evening degree programmes (MA general Degree), which have been specifically designed for people over 21 who may have work or caring commitments during the day. Its Children’s Panel Training programme provides training for people involved in the children's hearing system in East or Central Scotland.
The university offers a range of facility services for its students, such as the library and information centre, English language teaching centre, Glassblowing Workshop (in the school of Chemistry), Music Centre, Photographic Services, Reprographic Units, Print unit, Research and Enterprise services. Moreover, the Chaplaincy Centre is used by a variety of students and staff for quiet and spiritual reflection, for meeting with friends, and for social activities. It is a place for coffee and tea and for relaxation.
