The University of Leeds offers one of the widest ranges of academic courses in the UK. During the current academic year, over 32,000 students are attached to 700 different first-degree programmes and 474 postgraduate degree programmes. A further 32,000 men and women are enrolled on short courses with the University. The University has also developed distinctive areas of specialist expertise in rarer subjects such as Colour Chemistry and Fire Science.

This way, the university has annual research income of more than £70m. The variety of research activity extends across all faculties and departments, often crossing traditional subject boundaries. Interdisciplinary research is promoted through the faculties, research centres, and institutes of the University.
The Graduate training and support centre (GTS centre) is a dedicated facility where postgraduate students can access independent academic advice, information, and skills training.
