With over 19,000 students, the University of East London are one of the most inclusive universities in the UK, with over 60% of our students are from ethnic minority groups, 120 nationalities represented, and many students are the first in their families to go to university.
The University of East London received its charter in 1992 but traces its roots to the foundation in 1898 of the West Ham Technical Institute. The University offers a wide range of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The undergraduate programmes include Single Honours Programmes, Major/Minor Combinations, Joint Combinations, Extended Degree Programmes, Higher National Certificate and Higher National Diploma Programmes. At Postgraduate level, the students can study a wide range of diplomas: postgraduate diploma, Masters Programmes, taught Doctorates, and Research Degrees.
The University of East London has been rated among the top 10 modern universities for research by The Guardian. According to the results of the most recent government research assessment exercise, UEL is among the top ten post-1992 universities in the U.K. for research. For teaching, we are rated among the leading post-1992 universities in the U.K. by The Guardian University Guide. The University is also among the top 15 U.K. universities for graduate starting salaries, according to The Sunday Times.
