University Profile

The University of Birmingham is one of the leading research institutions in the U.K. Its diverse academic community includes 26,000 students from 150 countries. This way, the university supports a whole range of nationalities and cultures, which eventually make the University a vibrant place in which to live, study, and work.

Almost 9,000 new students take admission in the University of Birmingham every year in various undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs. The university offers one of the widest ranges of courses of any U.K.-based University. This includes nearly 500 undergraduate programmes and more than 320 postgraduate programmes.

With a beautiful campus, the University of Birmingham is commited to investing in the student experience. Their strong network of support services offers help in all areas, from counselling to career planning. What is more, the University also offers financial planning advice to students through the Student Support and Counselling Service, the Student Funding Office, and the Advice and Representation Center in the Guild of Students. Again, apart from being members of their own academic school or department, all postgraduate students automatically become members of the Graduate School as well.

The University works with an objective to promote a culture of learning based upon critical enquiry, debate, and self motivation. The University received the Royal Charter in 1990.
