History Of Rgu
Robert Gordon was a son of an advocate. After his death, a residential school was built, to educate young boys, on his estate according to his will. In 1750, Robert Gordon Hospital was born. It provided residential education to sons and grandsons of trades burgesses of Aberdeen or burgesses of guild. Later, it was converted to a day school and known as Robert Gordon College.
At the same time, John Gray offered to provide a science and art school. In 1903, Robert Gordon Technical College was built. Then the name was changed to Robert Gordon Institute of Technology (RGIT). This was the largest institution in Scotland to provide a variety of courses. RGIT was awarded university status in 1992.
Robert Gordon University is an internationally acknowledged university that offers courses ranging from undergraduates to postgraduates. The university offers part-time courses apart from full-time for both under- and postgraduates. It is amongst the top 10 universities in the U.K. that provide employment to undergraduates.
