Canterbury Christ Church University was founded in 1962 as a teachers’ training college. The college received its full university status in the year 2005. The college is the largest higher education centre in Kent, specially catering to public services like teachers’ training, health and social care and policing.
The courses are grouped into four major teaching areas: Business and Sciences, Education and Health, Arts and Humanities. The courses include education, applied social science, business, art, computing, English language studies, geographical and life sciences, theology and religious studies, health, media, history and American studies, music, sport science, tourism and leisure. These courses are offered at undergraduate to postgraduate levels. Apart from the main campus at Canterbury, the college functions from Broadstairs Campus, Salomons, and Chatham.
Research at Canterbury Christ Church University embraces not only health and social care but also other areas as well undertaken by the University. The college has implemented RGF principles on all the research activities carried out at the college. The research governance is set to carry out to constantly improve the quality of research work by reducing unacceptable practices in research activities. It particularly focuses on all research activities involving human participation, i.e., any risks to participants are identified and managed effectively. The college also has close links with other universities and institutions worldwide.
