The University of Liverpool was founded in 1881. Today, the University has over 230 first-degree courses offered across 103 subjects, over 19,000 registered students and an annual income of £219 million, which includes £75 million for research.
The University of Liverpool has eight Nobel laureates, six faculties, and 54 departments and schools. At present, the total number of students in the university is 18,793, out of which 15,338 students are pursuing various full-time courses, while the remaining 3,455 students are pursuing various part time courses. This number also includes 1,861 international students that represent 100 different countries from all over the world.
Apart from the undergraduate and postgraduate courses, there are approximately 3,000 students who are enrolled in continuing education courses, and approximately 5,000 students are enrolled in various professional development courses.
The University of Liverpool provides 3,350 rooms in halls for student accommodation. The university also provides its students a wide choice of 53 university societies to join. Again, the Athletics Union of the university has clubs for 45 different sports The University has the U.K.'s number one veterinary school as rated by the Times Good University Guide. It was the first to be incorporated into a British university. More than 8,000 prospective students come to the open days of the university each year.
